Sometimes, it is not hunger.
Only a wish for a little taste.
When something sweet or salty touches the tongue,
the body loosens slightly.
As if a place that had been holding tight
softens a little.
The mood lifts.
A little more energy appears.
Yet after a while,
the heaviness remains.
That sense of ease does not stay.
Not much is eaten,
yet it continues.
A hand reaches for a little more.
Then another little bit.
Sometimes there is a pause.
That last bite
was not really about being full.
Perhaps it was more like
trying to make a certain feeling
last a little longer.
