Watching War Through a Screen
Watching war through a screen,
scene after scene,
reflects how human nature
falls into delusion
and loses its way.
People want more,
and control follows.
So they push and fight,
in open conflict and hidden rivalry.
Unable to win, unable to take.
Their minds are clouded by anger.
Black smoke rises.
Wreckage of weapons lies scattered.
Casualties,
destroyed homes,
all become measures of victory.
In hatred,
they sink deeper into delusion.
They devise every means
to wound the other.
They believe
the more they destroy,
the stronger they become.
Harm and suffering
keep spreading.
But they forget
that while destroying others,
destruction returns
with even greater force.
Homes are ruined,
lives are lost,
hearts are unsettled.
In the end,
they forget
what they were fighting for.
Perhaps humanity
has long believed
that the power to destroy
is what makes one strong.
What war leaves behind
is deepening conflict.
And greater loss.
War,
perhaps,
is simply what human delusion
looks like.
